Choosing a new duvet can be a monstrous job, to say the least, let alone the overwhelming task of choosing the correct tog. It seems impossible to find year-round comfort in the ever-changing climate of the UK. That’s why Jasmine Silk have created a tog guide and a season tog diagram to help you choose the best duvet for you.
Do you wrap yourself in a bedding cocoon or are you a one-leg-out kind of sleeper? Whilst your preferred sleeping method contributes to your comfort, there is some science behind a good night’s sleep and that’s why having the correct tog plays a huge part in getting a great night’s sleep.
What is tog?
The word tog stands for ‘Thermal Overall grade’ which in simpler terms means how thermally effective your duvet is. The higher the tog, the warmer the duvet will be. We offer three different togs 4, 9 AND 13 with numerous sizes available and all our duvets are filled using the highest quality grade (6A) long fibre mulberry silk, so you’ll be sure to have the sleepiest of slumbers when you purchase with us.
So, we now know that being too hot or too cold really affects the quality of our sleep and it’s important for our bodies to remain at the right temperature whilst we sleep for us to get that oh-so-important bit of shut-eye
At Jasmine Silk, we have spent over 15 years perfecting our products and we can proudly say that a lot of time and hard work has gone into developing our silk duvets to an exceptionally good standard. At Jasmine Silk we wanted to make sure you are buying a quality product at an affordable price!
Is a 4 tog duvet best for summer?
Let’s start from the bottom. If your current duvet makes you too warm during the summer months, then maybe it’s time to come to the realisation you’re not using the correct tog. If you relate to the above, then I can assure you that changing to our lightweight 4 Tog Silk Duvet will be a game changer in helping you get through those warmer summer months.
If you are a person that typically ‘runs hot’ throughout the year, then you can ditch the duvet and use a flat sheet as an alternative to a summer duvet.
Now we’re on the topic of bed sheets, the type of bed linen used can contribute to raising your temperature while you sleep so we would recommend swapping your current bedlinen to one of our 100% silk bedlinen sets, to hit that sweet spot between being cool and comfortable all summer long.
What’s the best all-year-round duvet?
Our 9 tog all season silk duvet has proven itself to be great for those awkward in-between months and has carried our customers through many summers and winters hence the reason for its name!
We have spent years perfecting the ratio of thickness to breathability for our 9-tog silk duvet and that’s probably the reason why we have hundreds of 5-star reviews. We can assure you, you will get a consistent comfortable sleep during all four seasons with this beautiful all-year-rounder!
13 Tog – Combination Duvet
Double up with your duvets! There is no better feeling than snuggling up in the winter with a weighted cosy duvet and with our 13 tog combination duvets, you can do just that and more! The British weather can be super cold in the winter, so we recommend allowing yourself some downtime with your duvet.
This duvet is exceptionally handy as it works as a three-in-one! The 13 tog is a combination of the 4 tog and 9 tog so you can use the 4 tog for the warmer summer months, the 9 tog through to autumn and then put them both together to make a 13 tog duvet that will see you through winter/spring.
The duvet will be delivered with buttons and ties on two opposite corners of the duvet, so they’re kept nice and secure when used together. It will also arrive with its own bag, so you have somewhere to store the duvet when you’re not using it, to keep it as clean as a whistle for its next use.

Which duvet is best for allergies?
You’ll be pleased to know that all duvets are eco-friendly, hypoallergenic, and made with natural silk fibres, so they’re great for any of our fellow allergy sufferers!
All our duvets are cased in a 300 thread count cotton sateen cover and are filled with the highest quality long fibre grade 6A mulberry silk. We also ensure that every duvet is stitched with box and circle-style stitching to keep the silk evenly distributed for as long as possible.
If you’re looking for silk-filled pillows to match then look no further, as we have everything from silk pillowcases to silk bedspreads and every one of Jasmine Silk’s products is made with passion sewn into every stitch!
