Sometimes you just need a bit of a change and a makeover. A great way to do this is through your bedroom. Your bedroom is a place that you can relax and be yourself, so don’t hold back or hesitate to add that bit of personality. Who doesn’t love a bedroom makeover?

An interior design makeover doesn’t have to cost you megabucks. With just a few DIY hacks, you can change the whole energy of your room, making it a place that you love and want to chill out in. If you have no idea where to start, this blog is the perfect place to spark your creativity.

Add a Bigger Duvet Inside a Smaller Cover

This may sound ridiculous at first glance and you might be thinking, why am I reading this? But trust me, all the showrooms do it. By adding a larger duvet in a smaller cover, it plumps up the bedding, making it look 100x comfier and making you want to dive straight in. Triple sheeting is also a trick that is used by hotels. They place a throw blanket on top of a plump duvet, on top of silky sheets. There you have it, your modern look becomes the centre of attention.

Buy Some New Bedding

Silky, bamboo sheets will totally cover all bases when looking to upgrade, making you excited to jump into bed. Silk and bamboo are soft and glossy fabrics that will give your room a touch of style, sophistication and class. They are also designed to keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer, so there is no need to worry about how warm they will keep you.

Additionally, apart from it being super comfy to sleep in, it’s also the most sustainable choice when it comes to bed linens. Silk pillows are also great for acne-prone skin. There is only one problem – you might not want to hit that snooze button on a morning!

Add a Few Pillows to Your Bedroom

If your bedroom is looking a bit bare, adding a few colourful pillows can really make the difference. This works really well if your bed is up against a wall or a window, allowing you to throw down some pillows and create a cosy reading space. If you’re looking for comfort and not just appearance, a memory foam pillow is the way to go. Trust me, you’ll thank me. Get a nice little basket to go under your bed or night table and toss your throw pillows in there when you hop into bed and you’re set.

Add Fresh Flowers, Plants or Candles to Freshen Your Makeover

Bring your room to life with a few flowers or plants. It doesn’t have to be anything too fancy, just something to give the room a burst of energy and colour. A quick little trick to save you some money and prevent you from buying flowers all of the time is to spray hairspray on dying petals. This preserves their colour and extends the use of the plant.

Never underestimate the power of a good candle and what it can do for your room. Candles can add relaxing, romantic energy to the room, as well as creating a calm vibe. Obviously, the smell is a bonus, so make sure you pick one that you like and never leave flames unattended.

Add a Hanging Light Fixture

Good light can work wonders for any room in your house and you can get super creative with it too! Try adding a funky light fixture over your bed. A great place to look is Pinterest. They have fun ideas for mason jar light fixtures if you’re going for a rustic theme and hanging light strings up and down the wall for a cosy vibe. Try a DIY lampshade that will give you a custom look and do wonders for your bank. Lighting gives space and personality to a room, so make sure you get creative.

There you have it, by adding a couple of these ideas to your bedroom, you’ll have yourself a fully functional makeover. Before you know it, you’ll be an expert interior designer and we’ll be asking for the tips!
