When it comes to exploring new locations, it is essential to know things to avoid doing but also how to have the best experiences possible. At Jasmine Silk we can help you travel in comfort and style.

Today we are going to share with you 10 tips on the do’s and don’ts that will help you to make the most of your trip.

DON’Ts:

1. Carry your wallet in your back pocket

This is a big no-no in your native country, let alone abroad when you’re travelling in an unfamiliar area. You are more susceptible to robbery or even losing it by accident. Instead, put your wallet in a pocket in your line of sight or a handheld bag so that you are fully aware where it is at all times.

2. Neglect to bring toilet paper

As silly as it sounds, toilet paper is a must for travelling and is not always provided for you abroad. Ensure when packing to bring some, or set some money aside just in case you need to buy toilet paper when away. A small little precaution to think about, but it can make all the difference when in a time of need.

3. Pack expensive items

Any luxury items that were a big investment should likely be avoided when packing. Your mobile phone can act as an exception, as you will be using that to communicate and maybe even take pictures etc. But, hold off on bringing anything unnecessary especially when it would be costly to replace if lost.

4. Bring more than 2 bags

Overpacking is never ideal for anyone, as you are essentially bringing things that you will never need whilst away and are likely not correctly utilising space in your suitcase. Try and fit everything you may need into two bags or less. To save space, try your hand at packing things inside of each other, i.e. tuck socks into shoes. Also, rolling clothes rather than folding allows for not only better utilisation of space but also less creasing.

5. Sleep in

What is the point in travelling if you are sleeping in every day? Obviously, try and stay well rested, but getting up early gives you more time to experience where you are travelling and allows you to fit in more activities.

DO’s:

1. Pack when the washing is freshly done

A little strategy that allows for a much easier time whilst packing, yet makes so much sense. By making sure everything is clean, it is just a matter of organising outfits and packing everything else you may need when away.

2. Learn simple phrases in the language of the place you’re visiting

By gaining a basic understanding of how to communicate with the natives of your travel location, you are not isolating yourself. Even learning things such as “hello” and “thank you” allow for you to be friendly at least. It’s the effort that counts.

3. Bring snacks

You never know when you may get hungry whilst travelling, so bring a few treats to nibble on just in case. This does not mean pack meals, however, as the culture of your location should still be taken in and that includes visiting restaurants and trying local delicacies.

4. Wear sunscreen whenever outside

There is nothing worse than getting sunburned on holiday. It is painful and can often put you in a bad mood. Wearing sunscreen whenever you’re outside allows for you to bask in the sun and still get a light tan, with less of the risk of cooking your skin.

5. Pack an eye mask

Believe it or not but this can be the difference between a blissful flight and a monotonous one. Packing an eye mask allows for you to shut out all of the chaos that may be occurring on the plane and aid in helping you settle down and getting some shuteye.

At Jasmine Silk, we provide the highest quality silk eye masks to help you slip into a sweet slumber. All made with 100% charmeuse Mulberry silk, you can find your favourite colour today from our extensive range. Never settle for less than luxury, even when travelling.
